The Christian Proselytizer Questionnaire #13 Is hell justified?

13. Explain what type of offense could possibly justify eternal, unbearable torture in Hell; if your sect does not believe in Hell, then refute every passage in the Old and New Testaments which describes Hell (such as 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9 and Revelation 20:15). (Do not exceed 100 words.)

Trying to avoid hell is a pretty poor focus for your life. (Do you simply try to avoid jail or do you want to do good?) Jesus does tell us that love is the highest priority. He also tells us that doing good just to avoid hell won’t save us. All will be forgiven if you will truly repent.

Here’s the context for this post

LOL, all you are doing is dodging the question and redefining terms. Good job I guess.

That is what I would say conversationally to someone, and it is what I believe. The teachings of Christ tell us that if we ignore the needs of the hungry & thirsty, strangers, the sick & prisoners or if we serve them for selfish reasons we shall depart for hell. It is always a result of our own choices. Jesus wasn’t teaching how to avoid hell, he was teaching about how to live a better life.

I understand that I am redirecting the inquiry, but I didn’t redefine any terms.

What’s this then?

I've had a strange relationship with faith for as long as I can remember. My journey has gone from doing what I was told, to questioning, to doubting, to abandon, to wonder, to play along, to work against, to open up, to change, to embrace, to wonder, to doubt, to work towards, and to keep searching for better answers. Our various understandings of faith are deeply personal. Sharing those understandings can be very helpful to ourselves as well as others.
